Price Beatrix – From the ”old precious” to the ”new normal”

After the emergency of remote instruction, we are confronted with the question: How do we want to go on with our newly acquired teaching methods and how can we achieve maximum learners’ engagement in our classes? The hybrid or the flipped classroom approach offer their benefits for education, providing materials in advance and spending the actual interactive class time working together. Offering new avenues with myriads of resources at hand might be useful but classroom management is even more important. In this workshop I’d like to reflect on this paradigm shift and also share my favourite activities, demonstrating that the “new normal” can be just as good as the “old precious”.

Beatrix is a lecturer at ELTE, where she teaches ELT Methodology and other teaching related courses to future EFL teachers. Her current doctoral dissertation explores how English language teachers’ associations support their members’ continuing professional development.
